Synthetic fibres sit directly against your skin for hours at a time. Research increasingly links prolonged contact with polyester to skin irritation, disrupted moisture regulation, and the leaching of hormone-disrupting chemicals, including phthalates and BPA-adjacent compounds found in plastic-based textiles. Your skin absorbs more than most people realize.

Cotton breathes. It wicks moisture naturally, regulates temperature without trapping heat, and doesn't shed microplastics into your body or the water supply every time it's washed. It's a renewable crop. Polyester is not — it's fossil fuel, spun into fabric.
